The Hague Rules are an international convention, agreed upon in 1924, formally known as the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules of Law relating to Bills of lading, and protocol of Signature. The convention exists in order to impose minimum standards for the shipment of goods by sea. the rules have been updated a few times and are now the Hague-Visby rules. Furthermore in 1992 the UN established a more modern setup, known as the Hamburg Rules.
